
Max Armstrong shares details about a program to expand soybean exports to the EU.
A program in the European Union may help some U.S. soybean farmers. EU member states will soon be required to fill energy needs with renewable sources, including transportation fuel. A new directive from the USSEC will source verified soybeans for production of biodiesel in Europe, helping reach targets. Bunge is participating, helping provide the U.S. soybean market chain with a new export opportunity. There are, however, some restrictions, and will apply to about 8 states to start with.
